Like most Americans, I've been watching the news out of Northern Israel with some interest. For the most part, the American media reports focus on the "bad" Israeli soldiers who are supposedly devastating the Southern Lebanon people.
Even old movie stars are getting into the game in their condemnation of Israel's actions to defend itself from a terrorist organization.
''I insist, in my name and in the name of my foundation, and I beg of you to cease the attacks and the bombardments that injure and kill the Lebanese people immediately'', wrote Brigitte Bardot to Amir Peretz, Israeli Defense Minister, July 31st. (Guysen.Israël.News)
"Of course, your people have suffered, but does that give you the right to sow death haphazardly. When one has survived a genocide, can one take one's turn acting the tyrant? I do not believe so, or else history has served no purpose, and the horror will never end. I place my hopes in you and address my prayers for the Lebanese victims."
How absolutely foolish!
This isn't about the genocide of the 1940's! This is about Israel's survival as a nation! Hello!
Hezbullah is a terrorist organization. They choose to shield themselves from attack by operating near innocent civilian families with small children, operating in their very homes, to conduct their terrorist activities.
The media shows pictures every day of homes and bridges and highways destroyed in Southern Lebanon, but does not show the countless Israeli men, women, and children who have been killed, wounded, and are even now still living in bomb shelters throughout northern Israel, with inadequate supplies of water, food, and very little hope for a speedy rescue from their plight.
Who began this attack, after all? The media seems to forget it was Hezbullah who fired the first Katiyusha rockets on Haifa, Safed, and other towns and villages in Northern Israel, killing and injuring many. Even now, the rocket attacks continue, and innocent civilians are being killed in Israel. Yesterday (Aug. 2) 210 Katiyusha rockets struck the North, resulting in 1 death, 161 casualties, including one in critical condition, 5 who are seriously hurt, 47 more lightly so, and 107 who suffered from concussions (blast injury). (Guysen.Israël.News)
This is not insignificant!
The media continues to condemn Israel, yet, there are many questions that remain unanswered by the media. Why is Hezbullah attacking innocent civilians in Israel? Why do they say they are doing this to take up the "Palestinian cause", when Hezbullah is Shi'ite and there are virtually no Shi'ite Palestinians? And where Hezbullah is, why do we continue to see fingerprints of Syria and Iran?
I would say, let us pray for the innocent victims on both sides. Certainly, civilians are suffering in both Southern Lebanon and Northern Israel. Let us also pray for the Israeli soldiers who are bravely defending their country (as the US would do if it were attacked in this way), and for the speedy destruction of the Hezbullah organization, for it is the organization that is most directly responsible for the sufferings in both countries.
